You may ask "why do we learn about plant and animal cells?" well in fact it is important to know how  different and simular these cells work that aren't our own.

Plant cells and animal cells have very much in common in fact they share such important things like ribosomes, lysomes, nucleus, nucleolus, mitochondria. see you would'nt expect them to be so simular.

Photosynthesis is a biological process used by many cellular organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy, which is stored in organic compounds that can later be metabolized through cellular respiration to fuel the organism's activities

Plant cells are eukaryotic cells that vary in several fundamental factors from other eukaryotic organisms. Both plant and animal cells contain a nucleus along with similar organelles. One of the distinctive aspects of a plant cell is the presence of a cell wall outside the cell membrane.

Photosynthesis equation-  6co2 + 6 H2O            C6 H12 O6 + 6O2

  • Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast.

  • Chloroplast has two parts   1) Thylakoid: coin- shaped compartments 2) stroma: fluid surrounding the thylakoid.

  • Stomata: the opening of a leaf that allows co2 and o2 to enter and leave the plant

  • cuticle and waxy out layer of the leaf that helps prevent water loss.

  • xylem: carries the water throughout the plant.

  • Phloem: carries nutrient and carbohydrates throughout the plant

All of the carbon- based molecules in food store chemical energy in their bonds. When bonds break as food breaks down, energy is released.

ATP is a molecule that transfers energy from the breakdown of food molecules to cell processes
